Retire in Cheyenne Wyoming
Cheyenne Wyoming, the state capital, is located in the extreme southeastern part of the state. The prairies of Southeast Wyoming support farming and ranching. As you travel west, these plains give way to mountain ranges.
Beautiful countryside, low crime, and affordability all help to make Cheyenne, Wyoming, one of the best towns to retire in. With a population of 59,000, it is very surprising to find a town of this size with such top notch healthcare, art galleries, museums, a community college, and a Civic Center that hosts theatre and the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra. Other highlights include: - Located along the Sloan Lake in Cheyenne are the "Beaches of Cheyenne". Residents and visitors can canoe, swim, fish, and bike here.
- Warren Air Force Base is one of the largest employers in the town, and many military retirees call Cheyenne home.
- Cheyenne Regional Airport has regularly scheduled flights with American Eagle and Great Lakes Airlines.
The winters are long, but if you enjoy the beauty of the area, this may be the location for you to retire to in Wyoming.
- Held during the last full week of July, the Cheyenne Frontier Days is the largest event held in the city. Put together mainly by volunteers, the event includes parades, western art shows, Native American art and culture, concerts and of course, the rodeo. This is the largest outdoor rodeo in the nation.
